The Lucky Triple Mine (20.66 Acre Lode Mining Claim)

The Lucky Triple Mine lode mining claim is a 20.66 acre unpatented mining claim located in the Rocky Mountains of Northern Colorado, approximately 43 miles West of Fort Collins in the Manhattan Gold Mining District. On the claim are several historic gold mines, unexplored areas of the lode, and several large tailings piles filled with medium grade gold ore. It is only a few miles South of Red Feather Lakes. Because it is on National Forest land, it allows camping, hiking, dogs, and shooting.

This mine has two main adits, one is gated while the other is open. The gated adit appears to have a very large tunnel past the gate, with possible stoped areas. The ungated adit has a 3-way split immediately after the portal. The right and center tunnels have major collapses, but the left has timbering and gobbing, and appears to be open. I have not entered it to see how far it goes, because the portal needs cleanup to be safe.

The gated adit has a lot of the typical yellow sulphide ores in the tailings. The ungated adit is almost entirely higher grade sulphide ores showing good mineralization.

The claim also has two prospect tunnels- Tunnels that were started and only go into the mountain 5-10 feet. These are ideal places to learn timbering, and continue the tunnel! They are lower risk, more stable, and easy to access.

The Southeast quarter of the claim has not been explored, but I do not expect to find any existing workings. It will be worth exploration to prospect for a new site! Scroll down for maps, including an interactive Google Maps window.
